Title Logo how we work - the phases to successful implementation

  • Phase 1 - Client Questionnaire & in-home consultation
  • This is the the most important part of any project! The more concise and thought through the information that the client can provide here the more accurate our concept and preliminary designs will be. This is where you tell us what you would like your new space to do for you in terms of style, and functionality.
  • Each new client completes a questionnaire that allows the client / designer relationship to begin. As soon as the completed questionnaire is received an appointment for the in-home consultation will be set to allow for direct discussion between client and designer to ensure that the client’s needs and wants can be clarified and prioritized.
  • The true aim of this initial stage is meant to allow the client to consider all aspects of their project from needs, wants and style to budgets and timeline. As designers our aim is to be as efficient and productive as possible for the client providing a design that meets their criteria within as few steps as possible.
  • Phase 2 - Survey & Existing Drawing Production
  • Any existing area’s that are intended for re-design are thoroughly measured and drawn up to generate floor plans, sections and elevations as necessary to allow for accurate design drawings to be produced.
  • Phase 3 - Concept Design
  • The design process begins with the Concept Design stage. Here all of the information gathered in stage 1 is formulated and developed into a set of concept design drawings and documents. A concept for the potential project finishes such as paint colors, tiling, flooring etc is also produced for discussion with the client in the follow up meeting.
  • Concept Design Follow up meeting
  • This meeting allows the client to view the initial concept design drawings. Here decisions can be made between the client and designer with regards to how the design should proceed into the Preliminary Design Stage.
  • Phase 4 - Preliminary Design Stage
  • During this phase the design drawings are developed based upon the decisions made during Stage 3 and additional detail is added including proposals for fixtures and finishes. At the conclusion the client will have a complete vision of the design intent and a preliminary budget will have been developed.
  • Preliminary Design Follow up meeting
  • Prior to this meeting, discussion may take place via email to ensure that the design suits the intents of the client. The meeting is held to field any questions by the clients with regards to moving forward into budget development and with design contract coordination. The clients will be asked to sign off on the Preliminary Design drawings before continuing on into the Detailed Design Stage.
  • Phase 5 - Detail Design Stage
  • Detail design includes development of fully dimensioned and detailed working drawings. The drawing package is now developed to a point where discussion with required building trades / sub-contractors can take place. Throughout this process the project budget is developed enough to understand the choices available for fixtures and finishes.
  • Detail Design Stage Follow up Meeting
  • This meeting allows for a full appraisal of the project as a whole. Discussion regarding the budget and choice of contractors can take place.
  • Phase 6 - Contract Administration
  • Contract administration includes the coordination of the on-site trades and suppliers from start to completion of the on-site project. May also involve purchasing materials, fixtures and furnishings dependent upon the project scope and client requirements.
